From Blanket to Beauty: A Thoughtful Transformation

Our one-of-a-kind designs ensure that you will be the only person in the world wearing these unique pieces—a truly warm statement for your winter wardrobe.

This jacket was originally offered briefly in 2023 and later displayed in a boutique. When it returned to our studio, we used the opportunity to revisit and refine it in October 2025, carefully reinforcing delicate wool details so it meets our current standards of craftsmanship.

Each piece tells a unique story. We respect the original details of the blanket (such as the trims all around and seamlessly incorporate them into the final design, preserving the essence and warmth of the used blanket.

The "Yellow Flowers" coatis made from a rare 1960s French wool blanket with a beautiful, faint floral motif. This double-sided blanket has two colors per side: warm yellow and cream tones. The mending stitches are visible on the shoulders and pockets. This ensures its longevity.

This mid-length coat sits above the hips and offers versatility with its exquisitely designed bow tie collar, which gives the appearance of a miniature scarf wrapped around the neck, and its roomy, dropped-shoulder sleeves. The coat has two large patch pockets and is lined with a thin quilt, making it a warm winter jacket.

Button loops made from the same fabric provide both style and functionality, and a thoughtful hanger loop at the back completes the design. We chose vintage, stylish buttons in muted shades of yellow to add a luxurious touch to the overall design.

Why it’s perfect for you:

  • Unique Touch: Your coat is truly one-of-a-kind, crafted exclusively for you.

  • Detailed Craftsmanship: Every element from vintage blankets is carefully preserved and incorporated into the upcycled design, including velvet trims, zippers, or seams.

The unique story behind your coat:

This piece begins in the charming village of La Varenne–Saint-Hilaire in France, where we sourced a beautiful reversible wool blanket from the 1960s, purchased from Ms. Manou. A rare find in warm yellow and cream tones, it features subtle floral motifs and exquisite original edging. Both sides of the blanket were thoughtfully incorporated into the final design, and you can still see the finished edges showcased in the hem, sleeves, and pockets.

Yellow holds a special meaning for us… it is the colour of hope, joy, and sunlight. 💛

The coat is fully lined with a deadstock quilted fabric, while the vintage buttons were sourced at a Saturday flea market in Utrecht. The total cost of raw materials was approximately €115.

Craftsmanship is central to this piece.

  • Katerina carefully mended and hand-washed the blanket, drafted the pattern, deconstructed the material, and cut each panel.

  • Yasar, in our partner atelier, completed the sewing with exceptional skill.

  • The hand-sewn button loops were made by Katerina, adding the final artisanal touch.

We hope you find this story meaningful. The fabric you are wearing carries more than 60 years of history, now refreshed, preserved, and transformed for you. Wrap yourself in its warmth, enjoy it for years, and one day pass it on with your own story into it.

With love (and flowers),
The FC Team

From Upcycled Collection : The “Yellow Creme” *wool blanket as raw material and process.

*100% wool blanket: “Not all wool can be called “pure new wool”. Only the directly processed, first shearing of healthy living sheep receives this name. Unlike regular wool, the fibers have a natural shine. Pure new wool is a wonderful product. Comfortable; on the one hand it maintains body temperature and on the other hand it is permeable to moisture. It regulates the ambient temperature. Environmentally friendly; it is biodegradable and it is a raw material that grows again in nature. Safe; it is flame retardant, antistatic and does not dry out. Durable; it lasts a long time while maintaining its appearance.”
