The unique stories behind your coat:
In Lelystad, Netherlands, I found a vintage wool blanket at an antique shop. Its deep royal blue, simple and unadorned, hinted at a past era. I learned that it was once owned by B. Marcius, a local who had purchased it years ago to cover a fragile antique mirror. The blanket had a few damages in the middle and edges, which led me to design it into a size small.
Next, I came across a listing for a vintage 1980s quilted blanket in France. The "Bouti dessus de canapé fleuri 80’s" with its floral design was a interest find. It arrived last summer ‘22, and after washing and mending, it was transformed into the reverse side of the Royal IRIS stylish coat. This piece was previously owned by Alexandre, a French collector, and now serves a new life.
The cost of the raw materials came to around 115 euros.
The blanket was hand-washed, mended, and designed by Katerina who deconstructed and cut the material before sending it to our partner atelier, where Yasar sewed it together. I then added the finishing touches, hand-sewing the button loops.
This piece carries the stories of its previous owners, and we hope it adds to yours. Wear it with pride, knowing the fabric has been around for over 40 years. May it bring warmth and joy to you, and eventually, to those you pass it on to.

From Upcycled Collection : The “Blue Royal Iris” *woolen and quilt blankets as raw materials.
*Woolen blanket: “Not all wool can be called “pure new wool”. Only the directly processed, first shearing of healthy living sheep receives this name. Unlike regular wool, the fibers have a natural shine. Pure new wool is a wonderful product. Comfortable; on the one hand it maintains body temperature and on the other hand it is permeable to moisture. It regulates the ambient temperature. Environmentally friendly; it is biodegradable and it is a raw material that grows again in nature. Safe; it is flame retardant, antistatic and does not dry out. Durable; it lasts a long time while maintaining its appearance.”
