The Peronia Apron Top - Wrap stories No. 1 (OS)

€198.00

From Table to Wardrobe | One of a Kind | Handcrafted in Amsterdam

This piece began as an antique embroidered linen runner, framed by delicate handmade crochet work and preserved almost entirely in its original form.

Rather than cutting the textile apart, its shape guided the design. Adjustable ties transform it into a versatile wrap piece that can be worn as a top or as an apron-like layer over trousers, skirts, or dresses.

The embroidered motifs, openwork details, and hand-crocheted borders remain visible throughout, allowing the craftsmanship of the original maker to become part of everyday wear.

Finished with contrasting hand dyed black ties, Peronia balances softness and structure, bringing a contemporary edge to a textile made many decades ago.

A small piece with many possibilities, carrying its story from a homes’ table into the wardrobe.

The name Peroni comes from the greek περόνη a pin, fastening, something that holds things together.

One of one.

Story : The construction/ approach was developed by adapting to the original textiles rather than reshaping them completely.

A little backstory

This antique linen runner carried beautiful hand embroidery, intricate crochet work, and a shape that felt impossible to improve upon. Rather than redesigning it, the process became an exercise in listening to the material.

By adding adjustable ties and working with the existing form, the textile found a new purpose with minimal intervention. The original handwork remains the focus, while the open-back construction allows the piece to adapt to different bodies and ways of wearing.

A piece made through preservation, transformation, and respect for the hands that came before.

About the Making

Each piece in the From linen collection takes between 6 to 12+ hours* to complete. (Not to mention the days spent thinking about how to give them a new lease of life!)

  • 2–3 hours: washing, spot cleaning, dyeing, and mending

  • 2.5–4 hours: cutting and placement to preserve original details

  • 1.7–3.5 hours: sewing, finishing, and assembling

Every step is done slowly, with attention to the material and its story.

  • *Hand work and Hand sewing is involved at every stage of the production process.

Where and How It’s Made

Each piece is made either in our own studio or together with our trusted partner family atelier, just a short bike ride away, right here in Amsterdam. Nothing is outsourced. It’s just us, our hands, and a deep respect for the materials we work with.

A Note on Vintage Textiles

All textiles are pre-washed before we begin any transformation process. Because we work with pre-loved vintage fabrics, minor imperfections may be present — part of the story and character of each piece.

Please note: colors may vary slightly from what you see on screen due to natural lighting and different screens. We do our best to show the true feel of the garment. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
