The Pougki Skirt - Pink Long Ties Edition (OS)

€359.00

From Bed to Wardrobe | One of a Kind | Handcrafted in Amsterdam

This skirt began as the lower sheet of a vintage pink bedding set from Gérardmer, France.

What made this find special was not only the fabric itself, but how it arrived. The sheet was still folded inside its original presentation box, carrying its gold labels, quality marks, and traces of time. The glue from the labels had lightly marked the cotton over the decades, small signs of a life spent carefully stored away.

The soft pink colour immediately caught my attention. Crisp, lightweight, and made from 100% cotton, it remained untouched for years in my collection while I waited for the right project.

I named it Pougki, after the Greek word “πουγκί “a small drawstring pouch. The design follows the same idea. Long ties run through the waist, allowing the fabric to gather naturally around the body. Pull the ties, create the shape, and find your own fit.

The result is a skirt that feels both relaxed and sculptural, with dramatic ties falling along the sides and two generous side front pockets within the folds.

Story : The construction/ approach was developed by adapting to the original textiles rather than reshaping them completely.

A little backstory

What looks simple took time.

The skirt is finished with French seams throughout, creating a clean and durable interior. The long ties were cut and constructed from the same fabric, allowing the waist to be adjusted in different ways depending on how it is worn.

The small embroidered flowers near the hem were intentionally preserved, quiet reminders of the textile’s previous life.

A skirt for all seasons.

In summer, I love it with simple flip-flops and a worn cotton shirt.

In winter, it works just as naturally with a favourite sweater and loafers or boots.

The fabric has enough structure to hold its shape, while remaining soft enough to move with the body.

About the Making

Each piece in the From linen collection takes between 6 to 12+ hours* to complete. (Not to mention the days spent thinking about how to give them a new lease of life!)

  • 2–3 hours: washing, spot cleaning, dyeing, and mending

  • 2.5–4 hours: cutting and placement to preserve original details

  • 1.7–3.5 hours: sewing, finishing, and assembling

Every step is done slowly, with attention to the material and its story.

  • *Hand work and Hand sewing is involved at every stage of the production process.

Where and How It’s Made

Each piece is made either in our own studio or together with our trusted partner family atelier, just a short bike ride away, right here in Amsterdam. Nothing is outsourced. It’s just us, our hands, and a deep respect for the materials we work with.

A Note on Vintage Textiles

All textiles are pre-washed before we begin any transformation process. Because we work with pre-loved vintage fabrics, minor imperfections may be present — part of the story and character of each piece.

Please note: colors may vary slightly from what you see on screen due to natural lighting and different screens. We do our best to show the true feel of the garment. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
