The Pougki Skirt - White Long Ties - Embroidery Edition (OS)

€359.00

From Bed to Wardrobe | One of a Kind | Handcrafted in Amsterdam

This Pougki Skirt began as a vintage cotton bedsheet I found in Greece three summers ago.

The original textile carried a small embroidered floral motif near one corner. Rather than leaving it untouched, I decided to continue the story myself.

This piece became one of my first experiments with machine embroidery. I carefully studied the original flowers and began extending the pattern, adding new branches and blooms around the existing embroidery. The result is intentionally imperfect, a conversation between the unknown maker who embroidered the sheet years ago and my own hand today.

The skirt is named Pougki, after the Greek word for a drawstring pouch. Long ties run through the waist, allowing the garment to be gathered and adjusted to different body shapes. Pull the ties and the skirt finds its own fit.

Made from crisp white cotton, it moves easily throughout the year and can be worn with almost anything, a simple T-shirt in summer, a shirt and sandals, or a warm sweater during winter.

Story : The construction/ approach was developed by adapting to the original textiles rather than reshaping them completely.

A little backstory

This skirt represents a small step in my own journey as a maker.

The original embroidered flowers were beautiful on their own, but I was curious to see what would happen if I continued the drawing. Slowly, branch by branch, flower by flower, I added new stitches around the existing pattern, allowing old and new work to meet.

Inside, every seam is finished cleanly. The generous volume comes from the full width of the original bedsheet, creating movement without waste.

A Note

Not every piece in the studio is about preserving something exactly as it was.

Sometimes it is about joining in.

Someone embroidered the first flowers many years ago.

I embroidered the next ones.

And now the story continues with whoever wears it. <3

About the Making

Each piece in the From linen collection takes between 6 to 12+ hours* to complete. (Not to mention the days spent thinking about how to give them a new lease of life!)

  • 2–3 hours: washing, spot cleaning, dyeing, and mending

  • 2.5–4 hours: cutting and placement to preserve original details

  • 1.7–3.5 hours: sewing, finishing, and assembling

Every step is done slowly, with attention to the material and its story.

  • *Hand work and Hand sewing is involved at every stage of the production process.

Where and How It’s Made

Each piece is made either in our own studio or together with our trusted partner family atelier, just a short bike ride away, right here in Amsterdam. Nothing is outsourced. It’s just us, our hands, and a deep respect for the materials we work with.

A Note on Vintage Textiles

All textiles are pre-washed before we begin any transformation process. Because we work with pre-loved vintage fabrics, minor imperfections may be present — part of the story and character of each piece.

Please note: colors may vary slightly from what you see on screen due to natural lighting and different screens. We do our best to show the true feel of the garment. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
