The Wrap Stories No. 2 - Antique lace edition (OS)

€198.00

From Table to Wardrobe | One of a Kind | Handcrafted in Amsterdam

This reversible wrap apron began as an antique linen table runner from Marseilles (FR), finished with beautiful hand-crocheted lace and complemented by a delicate piece of antique beige lace along the waistband.

One side reveals the simplicity of the linen surface framed by intricate crochet work. Turn it around and a different composition appears, offering a second character and another way to wear the piece.

Its original shape remains largely intact. Rather than reshaping the textile completely, long cotton “bedsheet” ties were added to allow it to wrap comfortably around the waist, creating a playful layer over blazers, dresses, skirts, or trousers.

The beauty lies in the details: the handiwork of generations past and present, the softness of the linen and the marks of careful craftsmanship.

Two sides. Two stories. One piece.

No second piece exists.

Story : The construction/ approach was developed by adapting to the original textiles rather than reshaping them completely.

A little backstory

This antique linen runner from Marseilles (waiting years in our raw linen collection, till this April 2026). Its carried a remarkable crochet work along its edges, too beautiful to hide. While working with it, the goal was not to transform it beyond recognition but to preserve what already made it special.

The solution required a great deal of thought, as there was no set pattern for these collections. The idea was to allow the piece to remain as it was and become wearable through a set of ties.

An antique piece of beige lace was added as a quiet detail along the waistband. Its warmer tone gently contrasts with the white linen, creating a connection between two separate textiles that now share the same story.

Now it can be worn with either side facing outward, offering two distinct expressions while keeping the original handwork visible.

Two antique textiles, collected separately, found a reason to belong together.

A small object once made for the table, now finding a new place in the wardrobe.

About the Making

Each piece in the From linen collection takes between 6 to 12+ hours* to complete. (Not to mention the days spent thinking about how to give them a new lease of life!)

  • 2–3 hours: washing, spot cleaning, dyeing, and mending

  • 2.5–4 hours: cutting and placement to preserve original details

  • 1.7–3.5 hours: sewing, finishing, and assembling

Every step is done slowly, with attention to the material and its story.

  • *Hand work and Hand sewing is involved at every stage of the production process.

Where and How It’s Made

Each piece is made either in our own studio or together with our trusted partner family atelier, just a short bike ride away, right here in Amsterdam. Nothing is outsourced. It’s just us, our hands, and a deep respect for the materials we work with.

A Note on Vintage Textiles

All textiles are pre-washed before we begin any transformation process. Because we work with pre-loved vintage fabrics, minor imperfections may be present — part of the story and character of each piece.

Please note: colors may vary slightly from what you see on screen due to natural lighting and different screens. We do our best to show the true feel of the garment. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
