The Transformation

This shirt began as an oversized white shirt from a well-known Dutch brand, found as unsold stock in a distribution center. I sourced six of these in 2022, all in XXL size. A year later, I began experimenting by combining antique linens with these pieces, testing placements on denim and shirts.

In 2023, I reconstructed this one from scratch, pairing the crisp cotton shirt with a vintage wool blend mix striped throw in creme white and yellow. Then, in September 2025, I reworked it once more in our Amsterdam studio adding hand-crafted pleats across the front for a sculptural, draped effect. The result is a refined statement garment that merges timeless textiles with modern detailing.

The Final Design

• Style: Long, asymmetric button-down shirt, soft white and yellow creme linen with creme wool ending.

• Details: Structured collar, delicate pleats on the left front, hand-applied buttons, and a full embroidered front panel with stripes.

• Fit: Labeled size XL, but works for sizes S–L depending on desired fit (see measurements below), oversized with long sleeves.

• Fabric: Combination of deadstock brand shirt + vintage linen panel

• Lining: None

• Length: Asymmetric hem for a unique silhouette
