One-of-a-kind upcycled Top from our Blanket to Beauty Series collection.
Its created from a 1960s Greek wool blanket and reimagined as a seasonless layering piece. Inspired by the Dutch kraplap apron top and mixed with my own Greek heritage, it blends two traditions into something new and wearable.
The shape recalls the kraplap’s structured form once starched and worn over the shoulders in the Netherlands, but here it’s softened, reversible, and made to move with the body. The main side is cut from a traditional red and light pink woven wool blanket, known in southern Greece as karameloti.
These blankets were once kept for life, stored for weddings and engagements, part of the household’s most treasured possessions. The reverse side features a quilted bedspread from the 1970s–80s, adding another layer of story and comfort.
With a wide round neckline, the apron top is designed for layering over shirts, turtlenecks, and coats in colder months, or over a tee in spring and autumn. Side ties allow it to be adjusted, while the hand-finished fringed hem keeps a connection to its origins.
This Apron Vest is made from a Greek 60’s Red/ Light Pink Woven Traditional Made of Wool Blanket, handpicked from an antique shop at Thessaloniki, Greece.
It features two beautiful red delicate long double side ties as closure and same rib trim at hem The reverse side is made from a vintage 70’s /80’s quilt , bedspread. the top include the initial blankets’ edging. A wearable beauty <3
Tip: Playing with the ties you can completely change the fit as relaxed or more fitted to your body.
