Upcycled Table Runner Cropped Shirt x2 - April 2023

One-Of-a-Kind UPCYCLED Shirt from our bOaN Series collection

The Transformation

Those two shirts began as oversized white shirts from a well-known Dutch brand, found as unsold stock in a distribution center. I sourced six of these in 2022, all in XXL size. A year later, I began experimenting by combining antique linens with these pieces, testing placements on denim and shirts.

In April 2023, I reconstructed both of them from scratch, pairing the crisp cotton shirt with vintage hand embroidery table runner / doilies in beige base color. In these transformation tried to achieve smaller fit than the original shirt, so you will see a cropped version, and short sleeves too. The result is a refined statement garment that merges timeless textiles with modern detailing.

The Final Design

  • Style: Cropped fit short sleeves, button-down shirt, soft white and beige with two different embroideries. The Lady, and the Flower.

  • Details: Structured collar, delicate incorporated panel, hand-applied buttons.

  • Fit: Labeled size L, but works for sizes XS–M (or a small L) depending on desired fit (see measurements below), oversized with long sleeves.

  • Fabric: Combination of deadstock brand shirt + vintage linen panel

  • Lining: None

Model is 170 cm tall with bust 86 cm, waist 75 cm, hips 95 cm. She normally wears a size S, and the shirts fits her relaxed.

All measurements are taken flat in cm:

  • Bust (underarm to underarm): 59 cm

  • Sleeve length (from shoulder): 26 cm

  • Waist: 59 cm

The Story Behind the Garment

This shirt began as an oversized Dutch brand designer piece, sourced as unsold stock in 2022. In 2023, it was paired with a mix of vintage table runners. The result is a one-of-a-kind upcycled design blending crisp cotton, antique linen, and modern pleated detailing.

 The raw material cost around 60 euros.

Made to Last Tip: Maintain the beauty of your investment with dry cleaning or gentle handwashing at a maximum of 20°C, accompanied by low-temperature ironing.

Styling Tip: Wear it with skirts or denim pants!!
