Upcycled Pink Statement Stiped Shirt - M - March 2024

One-Of-a-Kind UPCYCLED Shirt from our bOaN Series Project

Every piece in our collections is one-of-a-kind created so you’ll be the only person in the world wearing it. Our bOaN designs are a true blend of “old” and “new” textiles, where vintage craftsmanship meets modern creativity. We respect the original details of every fabric we use from antique linens and wool blankets to contemporary deadstock garments and give them a new life through thoughtful transformation.

This cropped button-down shirt is reworked from a 00’s Tommy Hilfiger men’s shirt and a vintage 80’s French tablecloth set. Handcrafted in our Amsterdam studio, it features a statement collar with delicate ruffles made from both fabrics, decorated with carefully placed embroidered flowers.

Every detail is preserved and reimagined, blending vintage charm with modern design.

  • Size: M (fits XS–M, see measurements below)

  • Materials: Upcycled cotton shirt + vintage table linens

  • Care: Handwash or delicate program max 40°C / low-heat iron

  • Process: Crafted over 4+ hours, involving mending, deconstruction, ruffles making, hand sewing.

The Story Behind the Garment

This unique piece began its journey with a pink earthy shades Tommy Hilfiger men’s shirt from the 00’s, handpicked at Amsterdam’s Monday vintage market in the beautiful Jordaan area (found in 2019/2020). The cute 80’s tablecloth in pink, gray, and brown shades came from France, sourced from Nathalie's charming Etsy shop that gives a second chance to her cherished objects. I fell in love with it back in April 2023, particularly charmed by the cute embroidered little flowers, and now the time came to work on this!

The shirt and the napkin set were creatively combined to make a statement collar with handmade tiny ruffles, using 9 meters of stripes made from every available piece of the shirt. The abstract form and texture of the ruffles add a distinctive touch, handcrafted using traditional ruffle-making techniques. Half of the ruffles are crafted from the shirt, while the other half are made from the vintage material, resulting in a harmonious blend of textures and colors. The pretty little embroidered flowers are placed very carefully all around the collar, adding an extra layer of charm.

The outcome is a one-of-a-kind garment that blends timeless vintage elements with modern creativity.

Designer and Maker: Katerina

 The raw material cost around 55 euros.

Crafted and made by Katerina, who mended, and hand washed the designs, deconstructed, and cut the material.
