Upcycled Blue Checkered old Lace Reworked Shirt - April 2024

One-Of-a-Kind UPCYCLED Shirt from our bOaN Series Project

Every piece in our collections is one-of-a-kind created so you’ll be the only person in the world wearing it. Our bOaN designs are a true blend of “old” and “new” textiles, where vintage craftsmanship meets modern creativity. We respect the original details of every fabric we use from antique linens and wool blankets to contemporary deadstock garments and give them a new life through thoughtful transformation.

The Story Behind the Garment - Transformation

This shirt was born from two finds at Amsterdam’s historic Waterlooplein market in September 2023: an antique lace and a dark blue gingham men’s shirt. In our Amsterdam studio, these two elements were reimagined into a striking garment. The collar features delicate, hand-pleated lace ruffles, while the shirt’s cuffs were reworked with lace borders and made detachable for versatile styling.

The Final Design

• Style: Asymmetrical cropped button-down shirt, soft Blue and White with antique beige lace ending details.

• Details: Structured collar, with delicate pleats/ruffles on top, detachable cuffs with lace details and two cuff buttons, allow you to customize the fit around your wrist.

• Fit: Labeled size L, but works for sizes S–L depending on desired fit (see measurements below)

• Fabric: Combination of deadstock brand shirt + antique lace

• Lining: None

• Length: Asymmetric hem for a unique silhouette
