The Story Behind the Garment
This unique piece originated from an antique lace and a dark blue gingham men's shirt, both handpicked at Amsterdam's historic Waterlooplein market in September 2023.
In our new Amsterdam studio, these elements were reimagined and transformed into a striking garment. The shirt and lace were artfully combined to create a statement collar featuring delicate, handmade lace pleats. The abstract form and texture of the ruffles add a distinctive touch, crafted using traditional ruffle-making techniques. Additionally, the shirt's cuffs were reworked to include a lace-bordered finish and are detachable, offering versatility and elegance.
The outcome is a one-of-a-kind garment that blends timeless vintage elements with modern creativity.

The Final Design
This cropped button-down shirt, crafted from soft cotton, features an integrated structured collar adorned with delicately pleated antique lace. The ruffles elegantly embellish the edges, adding a distinctive and sophisticated touch. The detachable cuffs, also adorned with lace and featuring two cuff buttons, allow you to customize the fit around your wrist. The length is asymmetrical with a rounded hem at the sides.

The Story Behind the Garment
This unique piece originated from an antique lace and a dark blue gingham men's shirt, both handpicked at Amsterdam's historic Waterlooplein market in September 2023. When I saw the lace at the market, I fell in love and immediately started looking for something to match it. I found a beautiful vintage dress and this shirt. Back in the studio during March and April 2024, I decided to rework the shirt to complement my other creations. I hope you like it.

Crafted and made by Katerina, who mended, and hand washed the designs, deconstructed, and cut the material.
